OK,
it really wasn't a vacation, it was “eh, kinda busy” and "I meant to do
something, but I'm in bed now" and the regular bouts with premature
senility.
And
I didn't realize that I hadn't visited here to offer brilliance and insight –
aka “venting” - since the end of January.”
Since
then, we've had the Super Bowl, and and and college basketball, and and and, a
good Mercer men's basketball season, and and and the start of baseball, and and
and Bountygate.
There
was the wining/whining and dining of Peyton Manning, and a quasi-obsession with
concussions and all but de-footballizing football. Junior Seau committed
suicide. Tiger had a good day and dingbats proclaimed him back, and, um, he
wasn't. The Florida A&M band is a mess, and the repercussions may be
substantially greater than anybody thinks.
Isaiah
Thomas, to the surprise of nobody outside of the Thomas household, got fired at
Florida International. Bobby Petrino proved yet again what a jackass he is
(some of us wrote warnings when he was hired by Atlanta.
Gary
Carter died, as did Sarah Burke, Whitney Houston, Furman Bisher, Dwayne
Schintzius, Mike Wallace. Dick Clark, Goober, Moose Skowron, Donna Summer, Bill
Stewart, Richard Dawson, Mrs. Landingham, Jack Twyman, Orlando Woolridge, among
others.
And
college football people went further insane with conference changes and
assorted playoff talk.
All
shall be addressed in the catching up.
